1L Textbook Guide

Post by Assoc Dir Law Lib »

Hello Class of 2024,
The Law Library has put together a list of your required textbooks by class! It is available at https://research.lib.buffalo.edu/admitt ... -textbooks. The guide includes links to the various online retailers, the University Bookstore, and when available, links to free electronic copies provided by the Law Library. You may notice that some of the titles include notes indicating we hope to make free e-book copies available to you. We are working with the publishers to make those available before the start of classes, but cannot guarantee they will be up in time. For titles available through the Lexis Nexis Digital Library, you may be prompted to enter our Library Access Code. If so, it is Buffalolaw, all one word with a capital "B."
Additionally, while you will have unlimited access to all of the titles available through our Lexis Digital Library subscription, some of the other e-books are limited to one concurrent user at a time. Consequently, if you see that indicated on the guide, please know that electronic access may be an issue at times depending on usage by your classmates so you should not rely on the electronic availability of those titles to complete your assigned readings. The Textbook Guide is a work-in-progress, so please check back periodically for updates. We hope to have more information (and links) to share with you soon!
Finally, with regard to print textbook access, the Law Library will have at least two physical copies of each required 1L coursebook for in-library use only. One copy will be placed on the 5th floor of the Law Library and available for reading inside the library without the need to check it out. The other copy will be located behind the Service Desk on the 2nd floor and will be available for 2 hour loan, within the library only. We also have scanners on the 2nd and 5th floors if you would like to scan your readings ahead of time.
I hope you will find the Textbook Guide useful as you work on compiling your course materials, and that you will make use of our electronic resources and print Course Reserve Collection once classes begin.
As always, if you have any questions, please let me know!
All the best,
Brian
