BPILP Nominations and Elections!

Hello everyone!

We hope you are all enjoying your summer!

Now is your time to join the new Buffalo Public Interest Law Program (BPILP) E-Board for the upcoming 2022-2023 academic year! You can lead this important organization and continue to give opportunities to students to work in pro bono placements during their summers and help the people in our community! You can nominate yourself or a rising 2L or 3L for a position(s). The Buffalo Public Interest Law Program raises money to support students who work in the public interest each summer during law school. BPILP also hosts networking events for students to meet public-interest employers from neighboring communities. The organization is affiliated with Lawyers for Learning and participates in the Student Bar Association’s Volunteer Service Days.

The available positions on the E-Board are: President, Vice President, Chair of Fundraising, Outreach Coordinator, and Programming Chair! Attached is the BPILP Constitution to this posting to allow you to review the positions’ responsibilities. If you are looking for more information about a specific position, you can ask the past board members about their experiences, each of which are copied on this email:
President: Jenn Bigelow-Carlson, jebigelo@buffalo.edu
Vice President: Jess Choai, jchoai@buffalo.edu
Outreach Coordinator: Kirstin Sherman, ks374@buffalo.edu
Chair of Fundraising: Lizzy Vinal, emvinal@buffalo.edu
Programming Chair: Mark Houle, markhoul@buffalo.edu

To nominate yourself for a position on the E-Board, please submit your name, year, position(s) being applied for, and a brief statement of intent (a paragraph in length) outlining your relevant experience and interest in the position. These nominations must be sent to emvinal@buffalo.edu, jebigelo@buffalo.edu, and LPatter@buffalo.edu NO LATER THAN 8PM on Tuesday, August 16, 2022.

We have the opportunity to have co-presidents, which would take some of the pressure off of one person. Please let us know in the email if you would rather be a co-president or single president.

Voting will begin via online survey on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at noon and will run until Saturday, August 20, 2022 at noon.

The current E-board is excited to see who will be continuing our BPILP traditions!
Thank you and we look forward to getting your nominations,
The 2021-2022 BPILP Board
