Summer Student Attorney/Associate with the Criminal Justice Advocacy Clinic

2-4 Positions Available

The Criminal Justice Advocacy Clinic (CJAC) is looking for law students to assist with client case-work and project research over the summer. CJAC advocates for criminal system reforms and works on behalf of incarcerated clients on resentencing, parole, and post-conviction cases. Summer student attorneys will have the opportunity to work with the clinic director on pending matters.

Applicants should be detail-oriented, motivated, able to manage multiple priorities, and interested in social justice. Experience in clinics or working with the incarcerated population is preferred. The Summer Student Attorney/Associate will be admitted under the Clinic's Student Practice Order. Summer Associates may be involved in meeting with incarcerated clients, reviewing and preparing correspondence, conducting legal research, drafting legal memoranda, maintaining case files, requesting records, conducting investigations, and perhaps appearing in court depending on case status.

Our office is open Monday - Friday 9:00 am. – 4:00 pm. The student intern is able to work between 20-40 hours per week (based on interest) with some flexible hours and fewer hours possible. Students with other part-time summer positions are encouraged to apply. Salary is $15.00/ hour.
