Judith S. Kaye Arbitration Competition

Not in a moot court competition this semester? Looking for some advocacy experience? Interested in commercial arbitration?

Applications are now being accepted for the Judith S. Kaye arbitration competition. Rising 2Ls and 3Ls may apply. This competition is sponsored by the New York State Bar Association’s Dispute Resolution Section and the American Arbitration Association. The competition will be November 2-3, 2018 in New York City at the AAA’s offices before actual AAA arbitrators. The format is similar to a mock trial competition. During the competition various educational programs and networking receptions are held which are great opportunities for students to meet top practitioners.

If interested, please email Lisa Bauer at lisabaue@buffalo.edu immediately. To apply, you will need to submit a resume, transcript, and writing sample. We would like to hold tryouts consisting of a 10 minute oral presentation on a hypothetical problem Wednesday September 12 at 12pm.

The team consists of two team attorneys and a client/witness. Four law students will be chosen to compete, with one being designated as an alternate for all roles. The problem is released in late September and the brief due in late October.
