COMMENCEMENT: FINAL WEEK to VOTE for HOODERS. NEW: Cap and Gown Prices and Deadlines

Post by Student Life »

22 weeks until Commencement!

Thank you to those that have already registered! And just a reminder to those that have not. PLEASE remember to VOTE for your faculty hooders as well as the faculty and staff awards given by your class.

http://www.law.buffalo.edu/current/comm ... -form.html You must register to walk in the ceremony and here is where you request tickets for family and friends. You are also encouraged to tell us if you are NOT planning on walking. You will have until February to register, BUT we encourage you to do so early.
- If you are receiving an “error” when completing your name, please fill in the suffix – “n/a” is acceptable.

FINAL WEEK TO VOTE!
All graduating students are encouraged to VOTE for their choice for outstanding faculty and staff awards, as well as which professors you wish to hood the class at the ceremony. Voting will be closed for these awards as of December 21, 2018 so we can notify the faculty hooders so they can plan accordingly.

NEW CAP & GOWN INFORMATION

All graduates are required to wear the authorized University at Buffalo School of Law academic regalia provided for you by the cap and gown vendor. Rental orders will be placed online starting Monday, January 14 through Friday, March 1, 2018, through the University Bookstore. A link will be provided the week of 1/14/19. The cost for J.D. and LL.M. regalia rentals is approximately $72.00 + tax.

Late fees will be applied to each order after the scheduled order deadline of Friday, March 1. If your order is received after the deadline, the bookstore will not be able to guarantee the correct hood color and a late fee may be applied. Please note that you must return the gown, hood and tam (hat), as it is only rented. The tassel is yours to keep. The law school cannot accept regalia orders.

If you do not wish to wear academic regalia, there is an alternative. Traditionally, Buffalo Public Interest Law Program (BPLIP) offers the opportunity to donate toward its scholarship fund in lieu of renting a cap and gown. Students who donate will receive a special cord to wear on their lapel. A note in the graduation program section on Academic Costume explains the cord. Alternatively, with a $10 donation, you can still wear the cord even if you order and wear your cap and gown. More details will be posted on SIP.

You will need a tam (rather than a mortarboard cap); please be prepared to provide your head measurement when you place your order.

This is a very important and special time for each of you! If you have any questions, concerns, or special needs please feel free to contact me at aatkins@buffalo.edu.
