Government Honors & Internship Handbook now available online

Post by CSO »

We are pleased to announce that the 2018-19 Government Honors & Internship Handbook is now available online.

The Handbook is a comprehensive listing of Summer 2019 (2Ls) and Class of 2019 (3Ls) graduate hiring programs for many federal and state agencies. The Handbook should be your starting point for seeking government jobs, and we hope it will get students excited about the many career opportunities available in government!

Accessing the Handbook:

URL Password: buffalo

Calling Employers:
Employers are not equipped to respond to students individually. Please do not call employers directly for information or to check on the status of your application, even if a phone number is provided in the employer’s entry. Employers prefer that the schools serve as the primary interface between students and recruiters. Therefore, if you have any questions, please contact Dawn Skopinski at skopinsk@buffalo.edu or 716-645-6261.

Deadlines:
Many employers have not yet finalized deadlines and other aspects of their programs by August 1. In these circumstances, you will find an explanatory NOTE at the top of the entry, followed by as much information as they were able to confirm. The website is updated on a continual basis.

Weekly Updates to Students:
On Friday of each week, CSO will post on SIP a list of deadlines for the next 2 weeks that is specific to each class.

Please note:
There are a number of programs (for both summer and entry-level/post-graduate positions) with EARLY and/or ROLLING deadlines. Programs with “Rolling Deadlines” review applications and fill positions on an ongoing basis, so apply early for these programs.

For example, the Department of Justice Attorney General’s Honors Program (HP) and Summer Law Intern Program (SLIP) online application opened on July 31, 2018. The HP is the largest and most prestigious federal entry-level attorney hiring program of its kind and the SLIP is the Department’s competitive recruitment program for compensated summer internships. The deadline for law students and eligible graduates to apply to these programs is Tuesday, September 4, 2018. See more information in the Handbook or at https://www.justice.gov/legal-careers.
