Working or volunteering this summer? Complete forms for bar admission

Post by Pro Bono »

Are you working or volunteering in law-related employment this summer? Please remember to complete the forms you will need for admission to the bar in New York at the end of your summer experience.

1.Pro Bono work to meet 50 hour pro bono requirementNew York State requires 50 hours of pro bono work to be admitted to the bar. See http://ww2.nycourts.gov/attorneys/probo ... reqs.shtml What type of work qualifies? See: http://ww2.nycourts.gov/sites/default/f ... sion_0.pdf Taking a Clinic or Externship at the Law School also counts for your pro bono hours. In addition, receipt of a fellowship or stipend does not disqualify the work from counting as pro bono work. For the admission to the bar requirement, fill out this form to document completion or partial completion of the 50 hours of Pro Bono work: https://www.nybarexam.org/Admission/F-B ... ements.pdf

2. Law related employment - all other legal workIf you have, all law-related employment must be documented using this form: https://www.nybarexam.org/Admission/D-B ... oyment.pdf This work includes working as a law clerk, paralegal or any other work in the legal field. Do NOT fill out this form for the hours you are counting on the 50 Hour Pro Bono form above.
