Welcome Back to Campus!

Post by Student Life »

As we prepare to resume in-person instruction, we’re excited to welcome you back to campus this fall. We all have shown incredible resilience and grit throughout the pandemic. This year, we truly have a reason to be thankful.

In the coming weeks, UB School of Law will have over 170 new students arriving on campus for the first time and 160 2Ls that may have been remote for most, if not all. We so excited to show you all what the UB Law experience is all about!

Your health and safety remain our highest priority, along with providing you with a world-class educational experience. You will be challenged in your academics, but also be sure to take advantage of opportunities for personal and professional growth. You will receive our full support as you take on new challenges and find an unwavering sense of community and commitment, built around shared experiences only possible at UB.

Please read the below and reference the resources below so you can be as prepared as possible for the fall semester. Remember, we are here for you!

Best wishes from your entire UB Law family for a strong start this academic year!

START STRONG THIS SEMESTER
Set the stage for a successful semester! Get off to a good start by reviewing these basic tips about the class schedule, living and eating on campus, available resources and more.
• The first day of Orientation is Monday, Aug. 23.
o Consult your Orientation website: https://www.law.buffalo.edu/accepted/orientation.html
o New JDs, review your LAWR assignments: https://www.law.buffalo.edu/accepted/assignments.html
• The first day of doctrinal classes is Wednesday, Sept. 1.
• Many of UB’s Campus Dining & Shops locations will be open this fall: https://myubcard.com/. Whether this is your first time to campus or you are returning for another exciting semester, we look forward to serving you an award-winning experience.
• Make sure your technology is up to the task. Before the semester begins, review UBIT’s Student Technology Guide: http://www.buffalo.edu/ubit/information ... dents.html
• 1Capen is open for walk-in services Monday-Friday, 8:30-4:30 p.m. with extended hours on Saturday, Aug. 28 (11 a.m.-3 p.m.) and Monday, Aug. 30 (8:30 a.m.-6 p.m.).

HEALTH & SAFETY MEASURES
Students should upload their proof of vaccination status to the UB Health Services Patient Portal: https://patientportal.buffalo.edu/login.aspx prior to the start of the semester. For more information, visit the COVID-19 immunization requirements page: https://www.buffalo.edu/studentlife/who ... covid.html
Change in testing site location. Starting Monday, Aug. 16, COVID-19 surveillance testing on the North Campus will move from the Student Union to the ground floor of Talbert Hall in room 11 (formerly Bert’s food court). Weekly testing is mandatory for all students and employees who report to campus and either have not been fully vaccinated or have not verified that they have completed their vaccination series. Fully vaccinated students and employees who have submitted verification do not have to participate in weekly testing.

DAILY HEALTH CHECK REQUIREMENTS
The Daily Health Check is UB’s virtual COVID-19 screening tool for students, faculty, staff and visitors. This AI chatbot asks users about COVID-19 symptoms, risks and exposure, and offers real-time data to campus health officials about the status of the community, alerting them to potential outbreaks before they happen.
The following students are required to complete the Daily Health Check regardless of their vaccination status:
- On-campus residents.
- Students taking one or more classes with an on-campus component.
- Students utilizing on-campus services (e.g., dining, libraries, etc.).
- Students working or studying on campus.
Remember to save your campus access pass if you are cleared for on-campus activity. You may be asked to show it!
For more information about the Daily Health Check, including text notifications sign up, data privacy and more, visit the Daily Health Check webpage: https://www.buffalo.edu/coronavirus/hea ... check.html
- Opt in for daily text reminders so you don’t forget to complete this!

MAINTAINING YOUR WELL BEING
Staying healthy, physically and mentally, is more important than ever. UB Health and Wellness has the support in place to help you stay well, and we encourage you to take time for self-care when needed.
Should you experience symptoms of illness, contact your primary health care provider or Health Services (available 24/7 for support and referrals).

REASON TO CELEBRATE
We’re looking forward to welcoming all of our law students back to campus this fall! We know how important it is to connect and re-connect with your friends and classmates and to take part in the shared experiences and traditions available only at UB Law.
