Attention February 2022 graduates:

The February 2022 administration of the New York Bar Examination will be a paper-based and in-person examination administered on February 22-23, 2022. There will be no remote option. The Board will have an optional laptop program permitting candidates who timely register for it to type their answers to the essay questions. As a reminder, consistent with Court of Appeals Rule 520.8(a), the examination consists of the Uniform Bar Examination (UBE) resulting in a UBE score that may be transferred to other UBE jurisdictions. New York will also accept UBE scores of 266 or greater earned in other UBE jurisdictions.

The Board is closely monitoring health and safety mandates and recommendations issued by federal, state and local authorities. For the February 2022 bar examination applicants may be required to present proof of full vaccination or proof of a recent negative COVID-19 test and wear a mask fully covering their mouth and nose during the examination. COVID-19 safety and health procedures will be announced closer to the test date. The Board recognizes that conditions and protocols may change between now and February 2022, and it will make appropriate modifications to exam procedures as required and recommended by federal, state and local authorities. The test sites for the February 2022 examination will be announced later this fall. We encourage applicants to monitor this website for further information.

The application filing period for the February 2022 bar examination is November 1-30, 2021. Applicants must apply for the bar exam through their “BOLE Account” in the Applicant Services Portal when the application opens on November 1. Any applicant who does not have a BOLE account, should click on BOLE Account in the menu and follow the instructions.
