Graduation Ticket Lottery | Info on Ticket P/U and Student Group Cords

Commencement Ticket Lottery:

All graduates will be able to receive ALL additional tickets (above and beyond their initial 6) requested in the lottery system. If you need additonal tickets at this juncture, please let me know.

Commencement Ticket & Student Group Cord Pick-Up:

Graduating students participating in Commencement may pick up their tickets and student group cords (information below) in the CSO Office Rm 609 from April 22 through May 10. You will be required to complete the CSO exit interview to pick up your Commencement tickets.

If you wish to signify your participation in various student activities, you may do so by wearing “cords” during the Commencement Ceremony. Cords are complimentary (FREE of CHARGE) on behalf of the School of Law and SBA.

Student Groups (Social – SBA , PAD etc…) = white and blue
Affinity Groups/ Identity-Based (BLSA, LALSA, OUTLaw etc..) = royal blue
Law Review = burgandy
Journals (IP, Human Rights, Environ.) = green
Mediation, Moot Court Teams / Board (Desmond, Wechsler, ADR etc.) (non-credit trial teams only) = purple

The university also host several recognition ceremonies which you are welcome to attend. Details are below.

UB’s ALANA (African, Latinx, Asian, and Native American) Celebration will take place in-person on 5/19, and is open to all University at Buffalo graduating students. This pre-commencement ceremony was conceived to honor the achievements of African, Latinx, Asian, and Native American students. At this ceremony UB stoles are presented to students (free of charge) and can also be worn in our own degree ceremony.

UB’s Lavender Ceremony celebrates the accomplishments of LGBTQ+ students as well as their allies and is open to all University at Buffalo LGBTQ+ graduating students.
- Ceremony will take place May 13th.
