Post by Pro Bono »

The application for the July 2022 York Star Bar Exam closes this Saturday, April 30, 2022 at 11:59 pm (NY time). There is no option for late registration in New York. New York gives the Uniform Bar Examination (UBE). The fee is $250 for JD graduates and $750 for foreign law graduates (LLM). The only acceptable form of payment for the UBE is a Visa or MasterCard credit card. Debit cards are not accepted. Application portal: https://portal.nybarexam.org/

Not taking the New York bar exam? Check if your State accepts the UBE (so you can take the exam in New York and transfer the score) or has its own exam at: https://ncbex.org/

The July 2022 administration of the New York Bar Examination will be a paper-based and in-person examination administered on July 26 - 27, 2022. There will be no remote option. The Board will have an optional laptop program permitting candidates who timely register for it to type their answers to the essay questions. As a reminder, consistent with Court of Appeals Rule 520.8(a), the examination consists of the Uniform Bar Examination (UBE) resulting in a UBE score that may be transferred to other UBE jurisdictions. New York will also accept UBE scores of 266 or greater earned in other UBE jurisdictions.

The application is the ONLY time you can choose to participate in the laptop program to write your essays using a laptop. You can always opt out and write your essays, but you CANNOT opt in.
