NOTICE TO APPLICANTS WATCHING THE NEW YORK LAW COURSE (March 7, 2019):

Later this month, the first iteration of the New York Law Course (NYLC) will be taken down from the Board's website and updated with the latest version. Any of the 18 Video Courses fully completed under the first iteration of the NYLC will be carried over to the next iteration.

Any Video Course that is only partially completed as of Monday, March 25, 2019 will be removed from the applicant’s account thus requiring that applicant to re-watch all segments of this Video Course as soon as the latest version of the NYLC is released. The Board anticipates that the latest version of the NYLC will be available to applicants on or about Friday, March 29, 2019.

The New York Law Course is a pre-requisite to admission to the bar in New York

1. Score 85 on the Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam (MPRE) within three years of application for admission. Given three times a year: March, August and November. http://www.ncbex.org/exams/mpre/registration/ The next open exam is Saturday, August 10, 2019. Registration deadline is June 13, 2019 ($125 fee). Late registration is June 20, 2019 ($220 fee)

3. Pass the New York Law Exam (NYLE) - required score 30/50. The NYLE is given four times a year. It is a two hour open bookd, multiple choice exam, given from 12 - 2 pm on assigned Thursdays using ExamSoft (Exemplify). Required $27 fee to take on ExamSoft. You must download the exam by 4 pm the day before (Wednesday) or your registration for the exam will be dropped.. Next open exam is June 13, 2019. You must complete the NY Law Course and register on-line by May 14, 2019 at 11:59 pm.

You must complete the New York Law Course (NYLC) thrity (30) days before the exam and register by 11:59 that evening.

4. Pass the New York Bar Exam (Uniform Bar Exam - UBE) given on the last Wednnesday and the Tuesday before it in February and July. Reigstration on-line only from April 1 - 30 for the July exam and November 1 - 30 for the November Exam. The exam is a two day exam and the passing score is 266 on a 400 point scale. https://portal.nybarexam.org/. The next New York Bar Exam (UBE) is July 30 - 31, 2019. Registration is April 1 - 30, 2019. $250 for JD; $750 for LLM
