Next steps for July Bar - IMPORTANT!!

Post by Pro Bono »

Dear LLMs,

For those of you who have registered for the July 2019 NY Bar Exam (the UBE). Here are you next steps:

1. Add the following e-mail addresses to your contact list in your e-mails, so the e-mails from the NY Board of Law Examiner and Examsoft do not go to SPAM:
- administration@nybarexam.org
- barsupport@examsoft.com

2. You will get an e-mail from Examsoft within the next week if you signed up for the laptop program (uising your laptop to write the MEE essays and MPT). Per the NY Board of Law Examiners:

May 2, 2019: Laptop registration opens at 10:00 AM Eastern for those candidates who elected to participate in the Board’s laptop program.

May 23, 2019: Laptop registration closes at 4:30 PM Eastern.

There is no provision for late registration. If you do not completely register your laptop by the May 23, 2019 deadline, you will be removed from laptop and required to handwrite the essay portion of the exam.

2. The NY Board of Law Examiners requires a sample of your handwriting on a form. You may be sent the form by e-mail in the next week or two. YOU MUST DO THE HANDWRITING SAMPLE IN FRONT OF A LAW SCHOOL OFFICIAL OR NOTARY! In that regard, Vice Dean Melinda Saran will be tabling after Professor MacDonald's exam on Tuesday, May 7th from 11:30 am - 1:30 pm in the Lobby for you to complete your handwriting form in front of her. She will have extra forms available and will collect your forms to be sent in by Records & Registration to the NY Board of Law Examiners. If you cannot do it at that time, please take the form to Records & Registration to complete the form in front of the staff there.

3. Test center assignments for the bar exam - another e-mail. Per the NY Board of Law Examiners:

Test Center assignments will be based on availability and on a first come, first-served basis at the time of the Board’s seating assignment email. No applicant is guaranteed a seat in any particular city or test center, even if the applicant lives or attended law school in that city. The Board’s seating assignment email is sent out after the application period closes (usually in early June for a July exam and early January for a February exam) and instructs applicants to select a test location from the list of available locations in the email. Only locations with available seats will be listed in the email. First-time applicants who graduate with a Juris Doctor degree from a New York State law school will be given the first opportunity to select a location.

[emphasis added]

So, add those e-mails to your contacts so you will not be disappointed or miss something.
