HANDWRITING SAMPLE for the New York Bar Exam

Post by Pro Bono »

The NY Board of Law Examiners requires a sample of your handwriting on a form.

You should have received an e-mail from the Board of Law Examiners (administration@nybarexam.org) with a bar coded copy of your handwriting sample to download.
If you did not, check your Spam folder and make sure you put administration@nybarexam.org and barsupport@examsoft.com (if you elected the laptop program) in your e-mail contacts. Failure to timely reply to these e-mails is not an excuse and you can be dropped from bar registration and/or the laptop program.

Please download and print the bar coded copy of your handwriting sample, but DO NOT fill it out.

YOU MUST DO THE HANDWRITING SAMPLE IN FRONT OF A LAW SCHOOL OFFICIAL OR NOTARY!

SO, you have two EASY choices:

1. Go to Records & Registration and fill it out in front of the Records & Registration staff.

2. On Tuesday, May 7th from 11:30 am - 1:30 pm, Vice Dean Melinda Saran will sit at the Lobby wooden table and you may do the writing sample in front of her. She will collect your forms to be sent in by Records & Registration to the NY Board of Law Examiners.

3. If you cannot physically come in to do the handwriting sample then you must do it in front of a notary and send it directly to the Board of Law Examiners. [/b]

ALSO, the Registrar has a set of your bar coded Certificates of Attendance, so she does not need this form. She will mail the Certificates of Attendance and the Writing Samples to the Board of Law Examiners once your Juris Doctor degrees are conferred in June. Yes, June, as your faculty must grade your exams and papers, and give you a course grade for your Spring 2019 courses, before your degree may be conferred. And, SUNY confers all degrees, for every SUNY graduating student, across the State generally on June 1st.

Questions, concerns? Contact Vice Dean Saran at saran@buffalo.edu; 614 O'Brian or 645-6603.
