Watch live, real civil motion arguments in NY Supreme Courtrooms virtually!

Post by AdvocacyInstitute »

The Academy of Trial Lawyers has received permission from supreme court judges to live-stream virtual motion arguments on its YouTube Channel (link below). The “Special Term” project was created by two UB Law grads, Christina Gullo (15) and Carey Beyer (14), who believed that their time watching live court during pre-covid, cattle-call-style special terms was an invaluable educational tool in building their own practices. The project is a cost-free way for law students and young attorneys to watch live, real, civil motion arguments to better improve their own skills and practices, amidst the COVID-19 pandemic that effectively closed off courtrooms to the general public due to safety concerns. The Academy plans to broadcast a morning of arguments every two weeks, with the potential to broadcast “special edition” arguments when a particularly educational case comes before one of our judges.

For more information, students should watch this video on the Trial Academy's YouTube channel that Christina Gullo and Carey Beyer posted introducing the premiere edition of this Special Term project: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yNCYF0v4MIo

The proceedings will not be recorded, and the links are only good when the live streams are live. Make sure to tune in (and subscribe to) the Academy's YouTube Channel and social media accounts so you don't miss out on future streaming arguments! As you may have already seen on your Facebook class pages (and hopefully tuned into one or two), we will continue to announce these live streams as they become available.
