Upcoming Summer 2019 Government Program/Internship Deadlines

Post by CSO »

The 2018-19 Government Honors & Internship Handbook is now available to 1L students. The Handbook is a comprehensive listing of Summer 2019 (1Ls, 2Ls) and Class of 2019 (3Ls) graduate hiring programs for many federal and state agencies. The Handbook should be your starting point for seeking government jobs, and we hope it will get students excited about the many career opportunities available in government!

Calling Employers:
Employers are not equipped to respond to students individually. Please do not call employers directly for information or to check on the status of your application, even if a phone number is provided in the employer’s entry. Employers prefer that the schools serve as the primary interface between students and recruiters. Therefore, if you have any questions, please contact Dawn Skopinski at skopinsk@buffalo.edu or 716-645-6261.

Deadlines:
Many employers have not yet finalized deadlines and other aspects of their programs by August 1. In these circumstances, you will find an explanatory NOTE at the top of the entry, followed by as much information as they were able to confirm. The website is updated on a continual basis.

Weekly Updates to Students:
On Friday of each week, CSO will post on SIP a list of deadlines for the next 2 weeks that is specific to each class.

The following are this week's upcoming Summer 2019 government internship deadlines:

1Ls

Summer:
- District of Columbia, Government Of - Law Clerk Internship Office of Police Complaints (Paid & Unpaid, Deadline Oct. 19, 2018)
- Nuclear Regulatory Commission - Temporary Summer Student Program (Paid, Deadline Oct. 25, 2018)
- Equal Employment Opportunity Commission - Volunteer Legal Intern Program Office of Federal Operations (Unpaid, Deadline Oct. 31, 2018)
- Colorado Public Defender - Legal Internship Program (Paid & Unpaid, Deadline ASAP After Nov. 1, 2018) All Locations

Rolling Deadlines:
At the top of each 1L; 2L; 3L; and LLM, Recent Grad and JLC "Applications by Deadline” Table is a list of hiring programs that hire on a “Rolling Basis.” This means the employer accepts and reviews applications as received, and may make hiring decisions on this timeframe. If you have an interest in such a program (and would seriously consider an offer, if extended), review the “Rolling Deadlines” list on a regular basis. We’ll remind you in each of these reminder emails.
