Pride Scholarship - Accepting Applications

Post by Undergraduate Law BA »

The application for the LGBTQ FSA’s Pride Scholarship is open.

The LGBTQ Faculty and Staff Association's Pride Scholarship was established in 2021 to honor a student who can demonstrate academic success, financial need, and a commitment to LGBTQ advocacy or education. The scholarship is awarded every spring semester and the recipient is included in the annual Lavender Reception, a commencement and recognition ceremony that celebrates the achievements of graduating students who identify with the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer community at UB.

Eligibility:

Eligible candidates must:
  • Be a currently enrolled, full-time graduate student, professional student or undergraduate student with at least 60 completed credits.
  • Show a high level of academic achievement.
  • Identify financial need.
  • Demonstrate a contribution to the LGBTQ+ community at UB or elsewhere.
  • Show leadership potential either within the LGBTQ+ community or within their field of study.
  • Speak to how their work supports equity and inclusion.
Candidates may be from any discipline and have no specific citizenship status.

Application:

Candidates may apply through the UB Scholarship Portal. Each application should include:
  • Thoughtful and well-written responses to several short essay questions.
  • An updated resume.
  • Contact information for one character reference.
A character reference may be any person of the applicant's choosing including, but not limited to UB faculty and staff, a mentor, supervisor or peer.

More information and a link to the application is available online at www.buffalo.edu/lgbtqfsa/initiatives/scholarship.

The deadline to apply is March 1, 2025.
