IMPORTANT: University and Law School Printing Overhaul

The printing systems at UB have been completely overhauled. iPrint has been decommissioned for both the University and the Law School, and they have been replaced with UB Print Anywhere and Law Mobility Print respectively. These two systems are entirely independent of each other and operate in entirely different ways, so it is important to familiarize yourself with the information and documentation in this post.

It is important to note that both of these systems are primarily designed for use on personal devices to reduce the time spent on, or need for, communal devices during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Lexis printing has remained unchanged, but there are now only two Lexis printers located on floors 5 and 7 of the Law Library.

Information about UB Print Anywhere can be found here, but the important takeaways are these:
  • Quota and costs: All UB students will receive the same University quota allotments:
    • 500 BW duplex pages for the Fall and Spring semester
    • 200 BW duplex pages for Summer semester if enrolled in classes
    • 100 BW duplex pages Winter semester if enrolled in classes
    • There is no roll over between semesters and that the WEPA printers are color capable at an increased cost and printing single sided or color will deplete your quota at a faster rate.
  • One choice with many options: The WEPA printer options are unified and appear as only four queues that simply denote your printing preference (BW/color and single/double sided), once a job is sent you may then release and print that document from any of the 40 kiosks located throughout the campus.

Information about Law Mobility Print can be found here, but the important takeaways are these:
  • Available on personal computers: This method of printing is only available on your Windows or MacOS personal computer or laptop. Law Mobility print cannot be found on University computers and is unsupported on mobile devices.
  • Quota and costs: Only Law students will receive the Mobility Print printing option, along with the associated quota of 500 pages per academic year. The allotment will reset on August 1st every year.
  • Once choice with one option: There is only one printer option for students within the Law Mobility print system and it only prints to one location. Printer Law Lab Print Center [5th Floor Law Library] is the only printer that can be accessed by Law students and it prints to the two Lexmarks located on the 5th floor of the Law Library in the reading room.

This is a massive change to a service that greatly impacts the way that you function as a student, if you have any questions please contact the Law IT Department. The Law IT Department apologizes for the disruption that this may cause to you, but we hope that the improved capabilities of these systems outweigh the inconvenience of implementing them.

Thank you,
Law IT Department
