FREE TO ALL CURRENT UB SCHOOL OF LAW STUDENTS!
The UB Law Alumni Association's GOLD Group and the Law School BPILP will host a Mid-Morning Coffee Chat (this is 4th in a series). You will have exclusive access to four of our successful alumni-leaders who will give you tips on how to be successful in the field of Government Jobs. In a roundtable discussion, they will talk about various career paths and reveal tips for being successful in practice post-law school, as well as answer any questions you may have regarding your interest in the field. All four have a multitude of contacts in numerous practice areas. They will review with you the wealth of options out there in the field of governmental jobs – some of which you may not have even thought about pursuing.
Be smart for yourself and take advantage of this chat. It will take place on FRIDAY, April 9 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm on Zoom.
The alumni are:
Laura Groschadl ’12, Law Clerk to the Honorable Eugene M. Fahey, and is a current member of the UB Law Alumni Association and GOLD Group Board Member. She will discuss her employment as a Law Clerk for Judge Fahey, where she researches legal issues presented in appeals pending before the Court of Appeals, prepares reports on those appeals and applications for leave to appeal, and drafts opinions for the Judge.
Matthew Turetsky ’14, Assistant County Attorney for Ontario County, and current member of the UB Law Alumni Association. He will discuss his employment as an Assistant Public Defender for the Ontario County Public Defender’s Office, where he represented indigent defendants in criminal cases from 2014 to 2018.
Haley Eimstad ‘14, Assistant District Attorney. She will talk about her work as an Assistant District Attorney for the Erie County District Attorney’s Office where she works in the Felony Trial Bureau prosecuting criminal defendants.
Elahe Hosseini ‘15, Associate at Venable, LLP, and is a current member of the UB Law Alumni Association. She will discuss her prior employment as a Confidential Law Clerk to the Honorable William M. Skretny in the United States District Court for the Western District of New York from 2018 to 2019, where she handled one-half of Judge Skretny’s civil and criminal docket, including drafting signature-ready Decisions & Orders resolving dispositive motions, and preparing Judge Skretny for trials, status conferences, and sentencing hearings. Elahe will also discuss her prior position as a Staff Attorney at the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit from 2015 to 2017, where she drafted bench memoranda and proposed orders for all Second Circuit judges in over 200 appeals ranging from issues of appellate procedure and jurisdiction, constitutional law, immigration, habeas corpus, and Section 1983/Bivens.
