University at Buffalo’s Undergraduate Mock Trial Team is hosting a tournament on November 8th and 9th on North Campus (where you have classes). There are two rounds on each day: a morning round from 8AM-12PM and an afternoon round from 1PM-5PM. Any law students who have taken evidence law may judge. You may volunteer to judge as many or as few rounds as you like. All volunteers for morning rounds will receive catered breakfast and afternoon rounds will receive catered lunch.
This year students will be trying a criminal case about a murder on a gameshow akin to “The Traitors”. Students will be asked to make opening and closing statements, engage in objection arguments, as well as perform direct and cross examinations of 6 witnesses. Some witnesses you may see include the game show host, a sports medicine expert, law enforcement officials, and many others. Overall, it will be a very exciting case, and I hope you find the time to help us have another successful tournament for the students.
