00:01:51 - Reflection on UB

Play segment

Segment Synopsis: There was an emphasis on law and social science when he was a professor. A lot of faculty members and him valued lawyers and students that were historians. A strong program was developed in regards to law and social science. He believes that the UB reputation changes each year and it is generally hard to articulate. People's perception of UB was better after him because of the programs he developed. Opinions on the school vary due to news and current issues, and he notes that the Dean is in charge of shaping the curriculum and faculty. Even though it isn't an easy answer, he believes that his fondest moments were seeing special students graduate; it made him feel accomplished. His greatest accomplishment at the law school was when he was involved in law and health care. He did some writing in the field and managed a merger, and it was gratifying for him. He worked with faculty to set up intense courses for medical students, and it was a novelty to witness.
