Segment Synopsis: Women entering the field in the 1950's. Limitations on what specializations of the field that women were permitted to pursue. Unique challenges as a woman in the law? opportunities in 1950's were very limited for women. Motivation for career in law? Knew at 14 she wanted to be a lawyer. Became a judge at 27 not long after becoming a lawyer. Mayor was leaving office and wanted to put a woman Democrat on city court bench to join Madge Taggart. What has bench taught about human nature? Full of foibles and weak, personal interests intervene preventing search for the truth--facts to suit scenario.
