Segment Synopsis: As a lawyer and litigator, you always appear in front of judges. After a period of time, Russell formed a desire to serve in that capacity. Serving as a City Court Judge, he noticed that after resolving cases people would return to the courts. There was a huge impact from drugs and mental health on the citizens. Highlights for him were beginning the treatment court/field and figuring out how to positively impact citizens. Also, Russell created the country's first veteran's treatment facility. He believes that realizing the service of veterans is very important and vital to their recovery. "We are doing a disservice for those who served us if we don't do something."

Segment Synopsis: Russell's only expectation of law was to serve. "Law in the legal field was a vehicle to be able to bring about positive change." Growing up and being a witness to the era of the 60s and 70s, created a lot of motivation for what people can do. Russell notes that all of our journeys create some challenges, but you just must overcome to be successful. He is extremely grateful for the work he has done, but he doesn't know what is exactly in store for his future. The practice of law has changed due to the practitioners, not just the practice. Those who work now, may not have the same degree of professionalism or interaction with colleagues; but he still believes lawyers are hardworking today. If he had to do it over, he would still pick law and judge work.
