Place: Zoom or Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP, 425 Lexington Ave, New York, NY 10017

Description: One of the more challenging areas for legal employers' diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs is inclusiveness by national origin. Particularly in the South Asian legal community, foreign national legal professionals face unique challenges in trying to secure their first job, maintaining an upward career trajectory, and contending with a tight timeline under immigration law along the way. Our expert panelists will address that asymmetry head on with a practical overview of the candidates' immigration considerations, insight about how businesses view these candidates and visa sponsorship, and first-hand perspectives from professionals who have successfully navigated these issues.

For those who are not foreign national legal professionals, this program is an opportunity for you as mentors and DE&I advocates to better understand the circumstances of a significant contingent of the South Asian legal community. If there are avenues for you to advocate internally for a broader, more inclusive brand of DE&I for South Asians, this can be a great starting point.
