This award, funded by the State University of New York (SUNY), provides funding to support University at Buffalo undergraduate and graduate students partaking in unpaid summer internships with non-profit or government organizations. Internships offer essential hands-on experience and serve as a crucial step toward transitioning from college to a career. The Career Design Center will use this funding to assist students who engage in these internships, particularly those in marginalized or historically underserved groups.

The application closes on Sunday, April 20 at 11:59 p.m.

To be eligible, you must:
- Complete this application and have your site supervisor complete the Site Supervisor Verification Form before April 20 at 11:59 p.m. - Secure an unpaid summer internship with a 501(c)(3) non-profit or a government organization (federal, state, or local)
- Be a University at Buffalo student for the duration of the internship
- Be in good academic standing with a minimum 2.0 GPA (and remain in good academic standing)
- Have CPT authorization if you are an international student on an F-1 visa and participating in an off-campus internship
- Be supervised by an employee of the hosting organization
- Commit to working a minimum of 75 internship hours
- Be able to pick up an expense card in person from UB’s north campus

Preference will be given to students who have historically faced barriers to access, including but not limited to:
- Students from diverse racial, ethnic, and immigrant backgrounds
- Students with disabilities
- First generation students
- LGBTQIA+ students
- Veteran students
- Nontraditional students
- Students with demonstrated financial need
- Female students

Additional Application Requirements:
- Selected students to be notified via email within two weeks of application closing
- Award issued via U.S. Bank Expense Card in two parts- first half in early June and second half in late August
- Final internship evaluations emailed out in late July. Final evaluations must be completed by both the student and site supervisor in order to receive the second half of the award.

Award amount
$2,000- $3,500 (based on total internship hours)
