The two Sociology and Criminology & Earth Science Departments have announced two new cutting-edge minors designed to empower students with critical skills and knowledge in fast-evolving fields:

Offered by the Department of Sociology and Criminology, this minor explores the intersection of technology and justice. Students will gain foundational insights into sociology and social problems before delving into:

The historical development and societal impact of AI
The role of science and technology in shaping modern societies
AI’s intricate ties to social structures
The politics embedded in algorithmic design
How AI enables, reinforces, or challenges inequality in the criminal justice system

The Department of Earth Science presents a career-focused minor tailored for emerging environmental professionals. Students will receive in-depth training to address critical water resource challenges, equipping them to:
