Procertas Clarification

Post by Assoc Dir Law Lib »

Hi again everyone,
I am so sorry, but I recently discovered that I left off one of the Word modules in my original message to you from earlier this month. I I have since revised that message, but I wanted to make sure that you all have the correct information. So, just to confirm, you are required to complete the following three modules (trainers and assessments) in preparation for your LAWR classes:
• Word Trainer & Assessment
• Word Memo Trainer & Assessment
• Word Brief Trainer & Assessment
A list of the modules can be found on this page: https://ltaweb.azurewebsites.net/Incidents/Index
**Mac users, if you need to change the operating system, please click on the Settings option that appears when you hover your cursor over your email address in the top right corner of the Modules page**
Additionally, there has been some confusion about whether Procertas’s other trainings on Excel, PowerPoint, and PDFs should be completed, so I wanted to reiterate that only the three Microsoft Word modules above are required. That being said, you are certainly welcome to complete any of the other trainings and assessments on Procertas as they will all be helpful in terms of preparing you to use technology more effectively in your legal career.
Finally, a few students have asked whether the grades you receive on your assessments will be factored into your grades for LAWR. Please rest assured, they will not. Your LAWR professors simply want you all to begin their classes with the skills to format documents correctly and efficiently in Word so they can focus on teaching you the substantive aspects of their courses.
I hope that the completion of the additional Word module will not be too onerous and that you will find the training useful, both for LAWR, and for when you start drafting documents for your clients in the not-too-distant future!
Again, please accept my apologies for the confusion, and as always, if you have any questions about Procertas or any aspect of legal research or library services, please do not hesitate to reach out.
Thanks and all the best,
Brian

PS If you have not yet registered for your Procertas account, please check your UB email for a message from them so you can complete the process and start your Word training! If you can't find the message, please let me know and I will ensure you receive another.
